Five Dollar Ranch Brewing

Walla Walla, Washington's newest brewery on a beautiful farm just outside the city. Well worth the drive for some of the best beer around!

Tot-friendly brewery great for locals and non-locals alike!

This is the Tots Crew's third visit to beautiful Walla Walla, Washington. As one might assume, we visit specifically to check out some of the most beautiful wineries in the PNW and to drink some damn delicious wine. However, Tots Grandpa in all his wisdom, always asks that we break up our string of winery visits with a couple breweries. And we happily oblige! Five Dollar Ranch Brewing is the newest brewery in Walla Walla and trust us when we tell you that this spot has some pretty great things going for it!

The drive from downtown Walla Walla out to Five Dollar Ranch Brewing is just gorgeous. It's located on the owners' 12+acre farm on the Southside of town just before you hit the Oregon border. You pass some incredible wineries along the way, are surrounded by the stunning Blue Mountains, and get to see some lovely scenic views. The sunsets here are to die for.

The tasting room itself is inside the property's shop and is modest but very comfortable. This is also home to the production facility and its always fun to get a glimpse of where the magic happens! For being a small production and very new brewery, we must share that Five Dollar Ranch had a ton of variety and their beer quality was truly spectacular. When we visited, they had something for just about everyone, ranging from pilsner to stout with a lot of fun in between. All of the beers that we had were very approachable and super easy to drink. We tend to enjoy IPAs, ambers, reds, and hazys so we found plenty to keep us occupied. Five Dollar Ranch even has wine available from their neighbors at SuLei Winery and just recently started carrying delicious and local Locust cider. And, they have a nice array of chilled non-alcoholic drinks as well. This place truly has everything!

Five Dollar Ranch has a great little patio out front with some sensational views of the Walla Walla Valley. There, we had the pleasure of meeting Chief Beer Officer, Josh Hulett, along with his sweet as pie parents, who were all enjoying some delicious Five Dollar Ranch brews. Josh is a long-time homebrewer and his beer-making prowess was immediately evident upon our first sip. Dude knows his stuff! He and his wife Susan own and live on the ranch in the house just a few yards away. Can't beat that commute, huh? This made us think that for the sheer amount of breweries and wineries that we have taken our Tots to, one of them had better take a page out of Josh's book and build a winery or brewery on their property so that Tots Dad and Tots Mom can visit all the time. It's only fair!

Any way, we chatted Josh and his parents up a bit and told them how cool of a spot this was, especially for us out-of-towners. It's rare to feel so at home at a place where you've, A) never been to before, and B) that is a whole state away from your actual home. But that was the vibe we got at Five Dollar Ranch Brewing. This will absolutely be a must-visit destination on the Tots Crew's 2022 pilgrimage back to Walla Walla.

Five Dollar Ranch has some small bites and snacks that you can purchase on-site or they allow you to bring in outside food. However, do you want a real #pro-tip here? If The Bonfire trailer is on site during your visit, get your grub on with them! Talk about some delicious food! (So delicious, in fact, that we had a total #Totsfail and didn't take any photos before we completely devoured it!) They have an amazing selection of smoked meats that will satisfy your inner carnivore. We opted for the shareable sides because we simply couldn't decide and basically wanted to try everything. We had the wings, pulled pork mac and cheese, and seasoned broccoli. All stellar and complemented the beers oh so well! Be sure to follow The Bonfire on social to keep up to date on their whereabouts. P.S. They are the SWEETEST people!

We loved our time out at Five Dollar Ranch Brewing. We found it to be super Tot-friendly because of the large amount of grassy space, flexibility of bringing your own food, comfortable tap room and patio, chill ambiance, and non-alcoholic drink options. Oh, and our Tot's favorite part? The complimentary Otter Pop, of course! It's the small details that really go a long way with us.

What to expect when you visit:

  • Indoor and outdoor seating options

  • Great variety of beer with wine, cider, and non-alcoholic drink options, too!

  • Plenty of parking

  • Green space to shake your sillies out (but please supervise your tots!)

  • Their outdoor area is dog-friendly. WOOF!

  • Outside food is a-okay, but trust us and do support The Bonfire trailer if they are onsite!

  • No changing table or high chairs so come prepared with a back-up plan
