Shades of Brew Tap House

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Welcome to your new favorite neighborhood hangout (even if you don't live in the neighborhood.) This place has everything. Literally.

Come On Down - This Spot is Tot and Grandparent Approved!

Living in Keizer, Oregon, as we and our tots do, it is often a bit of jaunt to visit the newest local "hot spots." I'm not bashing K-Town ("Tots Mom" is a born and bred Keizer-ite) but it's just the reality as our little town is a bit lacking in the coolness factor. That is, until "Tots Dad" becomes Mayor and creates a city ordinance to establish a Brewery District along Keizer's main drag of River Road. But that's a story for another time because hello...we HAVE to tell you about Shades of Brew Tap House, or SOB for short (coolest acronym ever.)

Here's the deal - SOB was started by three awesome besties with the goal to "bring together friends, family, and the community around a love of beer." I mean, it doesn't get any more awesome than that, now does it? We have met all three of the bestie crew and they are some of the coolest dudes ever. When you visit, be sure to chat them up because they are all about creating that neighborhood tap house vibe and are all ears when it comes to learning what their customers want out of their visit to SOB.

The taplist is on point with an awesome selection of beer and cider - mostly local stuff because Oregon simply makes the best of everything so there's that. SOB does tap quite a bit of San Diego's Modern Times Brewery beer though and if you tried any of their labels, they are quite delicious. Generally, they carry some really unique options that you certainly don't see at every other tap house in town. Kudos to the beer procurement team! They also have wine and a great drink selection for the tots or those that are either not into or not able to partake in alcohol. Like we said, something for everyone!

Find yourself at SOB with a hungry tummy? Fear not! The food options here are killer. There's three amazing food trucks just outside the industrial garage doors - Daniel's Tacos, Tin Roof Bistro, and Campbell's BBQ. AND AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, Shades of Brew is now slinging their own pizza pies which get cooked in a space age oven in like three minutes flat. Good luck deciding what to eat when you visit SOB! Or you can just be like me and grab a little something from every food establishment and make your own magical buffet.

What to expect when you visit:

  • Awesome, friendly staff who are truly happy to see you...and don't look at you weird if you bring your kids and all their "Raya and the Last Dragon" figurines into the tap house

  • Lotsa TVs - a great Game Day hangout spot!

  • Yum yum brews and delish food truck grub

  • Indoor seating & outdoor seating with shade (hopefully some lawn games soon!)

  • Rad mezzanine level up above that can be rented out for group gatherings (yep, we will be having our baby shower there in a couple weeks because what better way to welcome our newest member into the Tasting with Tots crew?)

  • UPDATE - They've got high chairs! We made a suggestion that diaper changing stations in the restrooms would be super helpful, too. The bestie crew seemed very open to this and we will report back!
