TOPWIRE IS BACK OPEN FOR 2023!!!! Run, don't walk, people!
Everybody knows that beer pairs well with a warm, summer day. In fact, it might be one of the greatest combinations on Earth. But do you know what sweetens the deal even more? When you can enjoy beer + sunshine at an amazing outdoor beer garden that is both tot-friendly and dog-friendly, while surrounded by a forest of hops that are likely the unharvested version of those same hops found in the delicious beer sitting right in front of you. #mindblown
If you haven't visited TopWire Hop Project on the Crosby Hop Farm in Woodburn yet, then you haven't lived. I know I'm being a bit dramatic but seriously, this place is just awesome. I don't want you to take my word for it - I want you to go and experience it all for yourself. TopWire always has an amazing, unique beer line-up, super friendly staff, shaded seating options, and plenty of grassy space for your tots to roam. The beer bar is a shipping container that has been converted into a tap house which just works so perfectly at the venue.
TopWire has a nice array of non-alcoholic drinks (even Crux's non-alcoholic beer for Tots Mom!) as well as some tasty refrigerated snacks and shareables. They usually have a food truck on the weekends or you can order food from Luis' Taqueria with the menu at your table and they will deliver it to you at TopWire. Or outside food is okay, too! SO.MANY.OPTIONS.
This is TopWire's second year in operation and they are open seasonally so be sure to get out there before the rain hits. They had a great playlist playing overhead during our visit and they are just a super laid-back, family-friendly venue. We could, literally, hang out here all day, every day.
Fun side note. There was a birthday party taking place in the back portion of the beer garden when we were there over the weekend. Claudia, as well as the St. Paul Rodeo, were both turning 85. Claudia's grandson Blake came up with the concept for TopWire and she is oh so proud of him (You have a rad grandma, Blake!) We got the pleasure of meeting the birthday girl - what a hoot she was! We are taking a page out of Claudia's book and having our next birthday party here, for sure. Or maybe the one-year anniversary party for the Tasting with Tots Blog? :)
What to expect when you visit:
Beer...really good beer, at one of the most unique venues around
Chill vibe, very tot- and dog-friendly
Lots of green space (enough for a picnic blanket if your tots don't like sitting at tables) and a wide variety of seating options in both the sun and shade
Changing table in the bathroom...with wipes! WINNING!
Variety of food options - outside food is okay, too!
